Whatever Wednesdays

Sorry this is so late coming - we've been having computer problems.

Today's post is about the temple.

How would you react if someone walked into the church and started flinging wads of fat every where? Perhaps they head down the aisle spraying oil on everything? Would you be upset? I sure would be!

What if someone started telling raunchy stories in the sanctuary? Swearing and telling dirty jokes? It would be appalling wouldn't it?

What if the pastor brought in a tv and started showing pornography? Graphic filth? Horror? He'd likely be strung up wouldn't he?

What if instead of hymns and choruses the worship leader broke into a song about sex? Murder? Cheating on your spouse? Terrible!

The Bible tells us that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (New King James Version)
Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

So let us then be careful what we allow into the temple through our eyes, through our ears and through our mouths.

We must watch what we eat, what we listen to and the things we see.

God has really been speaking to me lately about how the things I see and hear become a part of me that I can't get rid of. Once you see something you can't un-see it. The same goes for the things you hear. They are in there to be called up again and again even if you don't want them to. They even come back in your dreams. If those things aren't good then well...ICK!

He has also been dealing with me about the things I put into my mouth and the amount of it. ~sigh~ It is such a struggle but one I must win. I am polluting His temple. I am filling it with nastiness. How awful is that?

So let us all take good care of the temple. The Holy Spirit lives there and we want Him to stay!

Blessings,
Liisa
