Recipe Thursdays

Here is the recipe for soft sugar cookies. We'll be decorating and handing out these cookies on Monday!

Soft Sugar Cookies

2 cups sugar
1 cup margarine
2 eggs
5 cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup butter milk (If you do not have buttermilk put 1 tbsp. vinegar in a 1 cup measure and fill the rest with milk and let sit for a few minutes)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cream butter, sugar and eggs together.
Add flour and dry ingredients together, pour into creamed mixture.
Add milk and vanilla and beat well.
Refrigerate 1 hour.
Roll heaping tbsp. into balls and place 6 to a sheet to allow spreading.
Bake for 15 minutes.
When done keep on baking sheet for 1 minute so they are easier to take off.
Transfer to cooling rack until ready to frost and decorate.

Frosting:
6 cups icing sugar, 6 tbsp. butter, 3 tbsp. of milk, 1 tsp. vanilla
Beat all ingredients well until smooth and creamy.

Enjoy!

Happy Thursday!
Blessings,
Liisa
